PreCanSkate & CanSkate Levels 1-4

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity.

Who’s it for?

Skaters wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or just skating for fun.

Skater must be three years old and able to go on ice without a parent.

CSA approved Hockey Helmets are MANDATORY for this program. No ski or bike helmets permitted.

 

Adult and Teen Learn to Skate Program 

Following a successful launch last season, we are excited to continue an adult program in Rossland! Based on the same skill development as CanSkate, this program is open to teens and adults of all levels of skating ability.

Rising Stars

(Upper CanSkate levels 5/6 & Star 1)

CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Based on Sport Canada’s long term athlete development (LTAD) principles, CanSkate centers on physical literacy and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity.

Who’s it for?

Skaters who have progressed beyond the basic levels of CanSkate and require more of a challenge. This program also bridges into Figure Skating, but still has a large focus on developing skating skills further.

StarSkate 2-Gold

Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!

StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Assessments through a nationally standardized assessment system. Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in STARSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating.

This season we are offering STAR 2 - Gold levels which will include both group and private lessons.

Rossland Figure Skating Club

The Rossland Figure Skating Club, offers preliminary skating skills in CanSkate, which start you off on the right track, whether it be for Hockey, Figure Skating or even Speed Skating. We are a Skate Canada Club and also offer offer STARskate for more advanced skaters.
